Allstate Auto Insurance

2775 Sanders Road
Northbrook, IL 60062

In 1931, Allstate was founded as part of Sears, Robuck & Co. after a morning commuter trail ride by then president Robert Wood, in which a suggestion was made that Sears should sell auto insurance by mail. By year's end, the company had 4,217 policies written, over $115,000 in volume and twenty employees. Despite all of these positives, Allstate suffered a $76,000 loss for the year.

At the World's Fair in 1933, a sales representative for Allstate set up a card table in the corner of the Sears exhibit. The rest was history.

In June 1995, Allstate became a completely separate company from Sears after a long, enduring, positive relationship. Since then, Allstate has been one of the leaders and innovators of the insurance industry, introducing options to reward and protect safe drivers (New Packages Features):

  • Accident Forgiveness
  • Deductible Rewards
  • Safe Driving Bonus
  • New Car Replacement
