American Spirit Insurance

As of 2009, American Spirit Insurance is offered through the American Spirit Credit Union, courtesy of the Sheets Insurance Agency in Bear, Delaware. The Sheets Insurance Agency, in turn, obtains its auto and life insurance underwriting from Nationwide General Insurance.

Obtaining auto insurance (and other kinds of insurance as well) through a credit union membership can save money and offer a number of major benefits over shopping for insurance by contacting a variety of property and casualty insurance agents or brokers.

Benefits of American Spirit Insurance

Some of the primary benefits of obtaining insurance through American Spirit include:

• Monthly billing & electronic deductions from American Spirit checking.  This convenience saves time and prevents late payments and insurance lapses.  No need to give out your account information to a third party when your financial institution handles your insurance needs too.
• Discounted rates through membership in American Spirit CU.  By joining American Spirit Credit Union, members have access to discounted rates on a variety of insurance products and one stop shopping makes for convenience and easy accessibility.
• Disability payment protection plans available.  American Spirit's disability payment protection option makes your auto loan payments if you become disabled for only a few cents per $100 of money loaned on an auto.
• Life insurance payment protection.  The American Spirit life insurance payment protection feature pays off your credit union loan on your vehicle in the event of your untimely death, giving your family one less thing to worry about, should such a tragedy occur.
• Accidental death & dismemberment insurance. Every member at American Spirit CU receives $2,000 in free accidental death & dismemberment insurance over and above any other coverage that member may carry. This free accidental death and dismemberment benefit pays out a lump sum of cash to the surviving family of the credit union member in the event of a catastrophic accident. Additional coverage is available at low rates.

Auto insurance – a necessity

Auto insurance is a necessity and a fact of life, but it can be more affordable and convenient when it is purchased through American Spirit Credit Union.  All deposits at American Spirit Credit Union are insured. Checking, savings, money market, and certificate accounts are federally insured to $100,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). IRAs are insured separately for $100,000 and insurance on IRAs may exceed $100,000 for joint accounts.
