Indiana Auto Insurance (IN)
As residents of one of the many “Tort” states in the country, drivers in Indiana are financially responsible for any property damage or bodily injuries associated with an auto accident for which they are at fault. As such, Indiana mandates minimum auto insurance coverage of 25/50/10 (see the chart below). Please note that although these numbers are the state minimum, and it is highly recommended to opt for increased policy limits if your situation so merits it. If you are involved in an accident and possess inadequate coverage, you could be financially responsible for some serious damages like “pain and suffering” and lost wages.
Optional coverage for Indiana insurance includes collision, comprehensive, medical payments, uninsured and under-insured motorist. Although these are not mandated by law, they are each recommended for certain policy holders. Both uninsured and under-insured options will be provided by every Indiana insurance company unless you reject them in writing.
