Hyundai Accent features, safety, and insurance

The standard options include some very appealing features, such as fourteen-inch steel wheels and a standard CD/MP3 player. You will also find power controls and an adjustable driver seat. From that base model of the GS, the standard options continue to increase in the SE, and then the sedan has more modest standard offerings.

All of the Hyundai Accents provide a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The engine works to deliver 110 horsepower and 106 pound-feet of torque. Transmission options are available in either a five speed standard or a four-speed automatic. The Environmental Protection Agency made 2008 estimates of the 2008 Hyundai Accent's fuel efficiency that ranged from 27 mpg city and 32 mpg on the highway in the five-speed manual model. Meanwhile, in the automatic model, a rating of 24mpg city and 33 mpg highway were estimated.

Safety is a plus in any vehicle. Toward that end the 2008 Hyundai Accent includes front seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags standard. You will also find anti-lock brakes standard and optional in various models.

Hyundai Accent considerations

Despite all of the airbags, the 2008 Hyundai Accent only managed to receive a poor rating on side-impact crash tests. It also only received an acceptable rating on the tests that measure frontal-offset collision. The result was surprisingly less than most of the other cars in its class.

Speaking of sport; this Hyundai Accent was no powerhouse and, even for the car that it is, Edmund's reported that the automatic model left something to be desired in the acceleration department. It was also reported as not having a smooth ride when the going got rough. So, this may not be the best vehicle if you are planning a number of long road trips. Edmund's also reported that the Accent was without cruise control. Considering all of these factors, you should also take into account the affordable insurance costs, which are estimated t o be around $115 per month, according to Automobile Magazine.
