Nationwide Insurance traces its roots back to 1925, when the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation incorporated the Farm Bureau Mutual Automobile Insurance Company.  Their main focus was to provide rural Ohio automobile drivers with quality coverage at affordable prices.  Their focus maintained their growth to five other states in just three years. By 1943, they were operating successfully in twelve states.

In 1955, the Farm Bureau Mutual Automobile Insurance Company realized they had outgrown their original goals as well as their name.  As they expanded nationally westward, they changed their name to a much more fitting "Nationwide."

Nationwide has expanded to become one of the largest insurance and financial services companies in the world with over $157 billion in assets.
