What Is Towing and Labor Auto Coverage?
All costs related to towing will be covered by your policy. However, before you decide where you would like your vehicle towed, it would be wise to find out exactly how many miles your policy will pay for, as this varies from company to company. If you end up needing to have your car towed 15 miles, but your policy only covers 3, you will be left liable for the remainder of the bill.
Labor coverage will pay for any repairs that are done at the exact spot where your vehicle broke down. For example, if you get a flat tire while driving, you can call the same number and the repair work will be performed and paid for under the labor portion of your coverage. However, be clear that this type of coverage does not pay for necessary replacement parts for your vehicle.

Is Towing and Labor Insurance Right for You?
If you spend a lot of time on the road, Towing and Labor is a wise investment, for even the newest cars can have breakdowns or flat tires. It’s only a few extra dollars a month and it offers a fair bit of peace of mind. If you don’t drive a whole lot, it’s up to you whether or not you feel this coverage is necessary.
Also, many new cars come with Emergency Roadside Assistance as a perk to buy one vehicle over another. For example, Volkswagen offers four-year Emergency Roadside Assistance for brand new vehicles (both leased and purchased) and two years for previously owned Volkswagens bought through an authorized used dealer.
Towing and Labor Coverage is very similar to Roadside Assistance offered by companies like AAA, albeit without some of the perks that a motor club might also offer like discounted movie passes or travel books. In fact, many motor clubs are insurance company based and offer a discounted or free membership to those who carry their insurance. The same also holds true in reverse, where many motor clubs offer a discount on insurance products as a perk to being a member.
As not all companies offer Towing and Labor, please review our auto insurance company profiles to see if your company offers this optional coverage.
